I am not sure how we are now at the end of October! We have been very busy in third grade!

Just a few reminders:

October 31- Students can wear orange or a Halloween shirt!

We will take donations for our Wing Basket until the 15/16.

Thank for all the donations to our cookie decorating...they loved it. They made some pretty interesting  cookies!

Happy Fall

I am not sure if Maine has decided it is fall or summer, but this weather has been wonderful.

Math

Third graders have been challenged in math this week. We are learning multiplication and 2 step word problems. It is so fun to listen to their math strategies. This would be a great time to make some multiplication flash cards. Practicing math facts five minutes a night will make math so much easier for them going forward.

Reading/Writing

We have been practicing reading strategies along with math strategies! We are reading Dragons in a Bag and completing reading lessons to go with our story. We have been working on comprehension, vocabulary, predictions, and visualization. I have also been pulling small groups to work on specific reading skills. This week we worked on close reading. This is answering questions and backing it up with evidence from our story.

Science

We will finish our first science unit next week. They have had fun learning about fossils, selection, and animal adaptations.
