Welcome to Second Grade!

Dear Second Graders,
I hope you are having a wonderful summer! It has been nice to get outside and enjoy the sun.

I have had a great summer. We have had lots of family time. My grandson has spent 2 days a week with me. We love to swim, walk, play outside, and visit the VCS library.

It doesn’t seem like it is August already, but summer sure does fly by. I am starting to get our classroom ready! Second grade is going to be a blast!

Our math program is Everyday Math. In reading you will have book boxes and guided reading groups. We will also do mini-lessons that will help strengthen reading skills. We will do lots of writing and special projects.

I love to teach social studies and science! I will send home more information about our units. They are pretty fun and I know you will enjoy them.

Our year will start with routines, growth mindset, community building, and friendship.

We will have a morning snack and recess daily. When thinking about your snack please remember it is in the morning, so something nutritious would be great!

Classroom Supplies:
We will have community supplies this year. Some of the items we will need are:

pencils(ticonderoga)
markers (crayola)
colored pencils(twistable)
Large glue sticks
glue bottles
wipes
kleenex
crayons(crayola)
erasers(caps or block)

Thank you so much for you help!

I am truly excited to be your teacher. I know we are going to have a wonderful year!
