Week of 9/25

Second graders have had another great week. Your children amaze me daily! They are so fun and eager to learn.

We added lots of new things to our schedule this week. We finished our first spelling unit and also added handwriting.

We have had fun doing many book projects that help set the tone for the year.  It is a great way to build our positive class environment. We read, The Invisible Boy, this week. This is one of my favorite books. If you have not read it you should check it out. We will finish our study of this book tomorrow with a project and writing about how we can help our friends feel noticed!

They have been great about NWEA testing! We are done and I am so proud of them!

On Thursday, we will have our first math test of the year. This week you will see home links coming home. Please have your child complete them and return them the next day.

We have also added book boxes to our schedule. We are working on building stamina! Each child has a reading folder and will bring books home to read several times a week! I hope you enjoy reading with your children as much as I do!

The highlight of our week was our river walk! We had so much fun exploring and drawing. It was a great way to learn and enjoy the outside. On Friday, we painted what we saw and wrote some great stories about our experience!

The joys of having a nice eating area outside your classroom door!

 Walking 6 feet apart!
My little artistis!

Creative!

They are sure the discovered buried treasure!

Week of September 18th

Second Grade

This is a recap of the week. We were so busy learning and having fun I might have forgotten to take lots of pictures...oops.

We had a great week. Your children adjusted very well to our first full week. I may have been in bed by 7 on a Friday night, but they did a great job!

This week we enjoyed our new tent for the first time. We took our math outside and had lunch in the tent. It was a huge hit! Lots has changed but some of the good changes have been fun. We took advantage of the weather and worked outside this week.

On Friday, we read the book Spaghetti in a Hot Dog Bun, and enjoyed a treat. This is a book about the courage to be yourself...one of my favorites!

Pictures of a new meal idea for you:

 Sweet Second Grader

I don't get to take pictures of all the work my remote children are doing so I had to post this sweet picture.

Cora did a great job on her fire fly picture! We read the book, Fire Flies, and visualized what we saw. Have you ever tried to catch fire flies in a jar?

If your child is learning remotely I would love to see some pictures!
