Third Grade News
Mrs. Humphrey

Dear Parents,

We have had an AWESOME full week of third grade!
Third graders worked very hard this week and I could not be prouder!

Math has gone very well. I am so pleased with their effort. Congratulations to all my third graders for turning in their homework!

We did lots of writing this week. Third graders wrote about their favorite summer memory, journal writing and letter writing. Needless to say their hands have been tired :)

Third graders also added handwriting, spelling and social studies to their week. We started our map unit and did our first spelling unit. Friday was our first spelling test.

The big news of the week…We finished NWEA testing!

It was great to see all you at our open house!

Please check out our blog at veaziecs.org.

Third grade had another awesome week!
We are starting to settle into our routine. I think we finally have a schedule!

This week third graders took two NWEA tests. It was so nice to take them in our class on our own chrome books. We will finish testing on Tuesday!

Next week is our first full week. The children have done a great job during our reading block. During reading next week we will start, The Chocolate Touch. Third graders love this book. The children will do many activities and answer comprehension questions as we read along.

Our first unit in social studies is Maps and Landforms. We will focus on our community and map skills. If anyone has any information on the history of Veazie we would love to have you share it with us!

On Monday, they will come home with their first spelling list. We work on spelling throughout the week and have a test on Friday.

Please keep an eye out for homework. Third graders have done a great job returning their math homework. It would be great to help them become responsible for putting their homework in their folder and getting it into their backpack.

Date to remember:
Sept. 15th- Open House/Spaghetti Dinner
Sept 21st- Picture Day

I am so happy to be working with your children. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

I have some pretty cool third graders!

We had a great first week! I hope you all enjoyed your long weekend.  I will be sending home a new special schedules...it has changed again :)

We will be starting NWEA testing this week. The kids are pretty excited because we can use our new chrome books and stay in our room! Please encourage your child to take their time and do their best work.

Here are some photos of our first week in grade three:
Writing in our morning journals!

This week we read, "Spaghetti in a Hot Dog Bun". It is great story about friendship and being yourself. Third grade then made Fabulous Friends venn diagrams. They learned about each other and what they like that is different or the same.

The HIGHLIGHT of the week was our new chrome books!!
