What has been happening in Third Grade?

Third Grade just finished our Explorer Unit. We had a great time making globes with paper mache. As you can see making a mess was the best!!

We then painted globes and marked the route of the explorer that was researched.  I was very impressed at how well they did finding information. The students were given a guideline to follow and questions to look up. They did an AWESOME job!

Third graders also designed their own ship and logged their journey.

At the end of our unit third graders shared their projects with 4th and 5th graders.

This week we started a new science unit. We are studying Objects and Motion. This is a great unit and the kids are loving it! We started the unit with tug of war! We may have caused a little commotion in the halls! Ask your child what we learned about tug of war.

We are using Stemscopes and Mystery Science to complete some pretty cool experiments.

Here third graders are trying to construct a bridge (with guidelines) to see how many pennies it will hold before it falls.

On Friday, we finished the second book in the "Nanny Piggins" series. If you have not heard of Nanny Piggins she is a pig that is a nanny. She is pretty funny and best of all allows the kids to eat cake 3 times a day! We decided we should have cake on Friday in honor of Nanny Piggins. I decided 3 times might be a bit too much :)

As you can see we have been pretty busy in third grade. Thank you to all of you for making Teacher Appreciation Week great! I have some pretty thoughtful third graders and I appreciate all of them!

Have a great weekend!
