September 14th

We had a great full week in 2/3! I am so pleased with how well they have adjusted to our routine.  I am looking forward to another great week.

This week we are starting the book, "Freckle Juice" by Judy Bloom. We will read this together as a class. We will have book talks, comprehension questions, and fun activities!

Highlights of our week:

We love it when our Peer Helpers visit on Tuesdays. Last week they helped us with spelling and word work!

Our first Science Unit is studying Weather! We learned about different clouds and what kind of weather they may bring. We then did a cool experiment with warm water, a cup, and tin foil. It was so fun to watch them observe the changes in their cups! We discovered what clouds are made of and why puddles disappear.

Friday was a great day! We read the book, "Bubble Gum Brain" and stretched our brains with some pretty fun activities. We made slime and bubble gum so we can remember that we are going to stretch our brains in Grades 2/3.

As you can see we had a wonderful week!

Melissa Stone came in and helped us harvest our carrots. The children had fun digging, cleaning, and eating!

Thank you Melissa for helping us harvest and teaching us so much about gardening!

Grades 2/3 News
Mrs. Humphrey

Dear Parents,
We are off to a wonderful year! I feel fortunate to be working with such wonderful children and families.

We have spent lots of time getting to know each other this week. It fun to find out new things about our friends and our teacher.

This week was also about learning our new routine and class rules. I like to spend the first week reading books on kindness and growth mindset. I think this sets a tone for a great year!

Please check out our class blog to see some pictures of our first few days!

Have a great long weekend!

Holly

We had a great time creating a perch for Harry! He wanted to sit high enough to see all around the room.

Grades 2/3 had fun playing math games on Friday. We also did an estimation jar and we had 2 students estimate the exact number of items in the jar!
