 October 31

As you can imagine our week was pretty exciting. Book Character Day and Spirit Week was a success!

In math we worked on simple addition and subtraction. We also continued to work on number stories. We used subtraction number stories to discover that subtraction number models can not be turn around facts.

Second graders have done an awesome job reading. I am seeing wonderful gains! They have built their stamina during guided reading. They also love Epic. It is so exciting to see them want to read the books we use for read alouds. Thank you so much for reading with your child at home!

I think the highlight of my week was writing! This week we made an anchor chart of a haunted house. We came up with describing words with our senses. As a class we did a shared writing about a haunted house and it was so fun to hear their ideas and watch their excitement. They then wrote their own stories and they are AWESOME!
